A. All regular season matches may end in a tie. All tournament matches in elimination format must have a winner. Matches will be decided as follows, depending on the competition and/or round of that competition, if tied after 90 minutes:

* Shots from the penalty mark
(Challenge Cup, Victory Cup, Coed Cup 1st & 2nd Rounds + Maybry Cup 1st Round)
* 10 minutes (2x5) of extra time, then kicks from the mark if still tied after 100 minutes
(Challenge Cup, Victory Cup & Coed Cup Semi-Finals)
* 20 minutes (2x10) of extra time, then kicks from the mark if still tied after 110 minutes
(All tournament/Cup Finals)

B. The team leading the standings of their division (based on points and/or all applicable tie-breakers) at the end of each season will win their division, and automatically be promoted to the next highest division during the following season. The team with the fewest points in their division (based on points and/or all applicable tie-breakers) at the end of each season will be relegated to the next lowest division during the following season. Any team not willing to comply with promotion or relegation policies will forfeit any prize winnings for that season, and will not be invited to return to GMSA during the following season. Teams may not attempt to re-enter the league under a different team name to avoid promotion/relegation. Any "new" team entering GMSA must consist of at least 50% of the roster having not been previously registered to a team who was "dissolved" following non-compliance with promotion or relegation. (Certain modifications may be made to the promotion/relegation system following a given season, depending on division size, new teams entering the league, existing teams folding, or other circumstances.)

C. Prize money will be awarded to each division winner following each season; prize money may be put toward referee fees for the following season, new uniforms, or other team needs. Money will be distributed to each team's coach/manager following the next season's coaches meeting. Team participation in the subsequent season is a league requirement for acceptance of prize money; teams that win their division, but do not return for the following season, will forfeit their prize money to the league.

D. Should two teams be tied for first place in their division at the end of the season, the GMSA tiebreakers will decide the final finishing order. The order of tiebreakers is as follows: 1. Head-to-head competition; 2. Fewest Goals Allowed; 3. Fewest Ejections; 4. Fewest Cautions; 5. Coin Flip

^ NOTE: Any player in any division who is cautioned MAY also be substituted before the restart, but they are not required to be substituted.

F. Spectators are not allowed on, around, or behind team benches.  Players and coaches only are allowed on the bench.  At the Mike Rose Soccer Complex, spectators must either be on the opposite side of the field from the teams, or 15-20 yards away from the team benches, between the light poles and the corner flags.  Spectators must also stay at least five yards off the touchline.  No spectators are allowed behind either goal.

G. GMSA has adopted the "Only The Captain" guidelines.  This is signaled by the referee crossing both wrists above their head. When a referee gives this signal, only the captain may approach or talk to the referee. Players other than the captain who continue to approach and/or argue with the referee are subject to being cautioned. These guidelines are in addition to, not in place of, the laws of the game already in place regarding dissent.

H. The GMSA Executive Committee reserves the right to amend the above-mentioned rules as circumstances dictate, or to make rulings and/or judgments on situations not specifically covered in these rules of competition.
