GMSA Policies on cautions/ejections:
* If you get four (4) yellow cards in the same season, you are automatically suspended for the next game played following the game in which you received that fourth caution.
* If you are ejected from a match (red card), you must sit out the next game played automatically. If you receive a second red card in the same season, it is an automatic three-match suspension.
* All red cards are automatically reviewed by the GMSA Disciplinary Committee. You can review the breakdown on the different classifications of infractions, as defined by TSSA, on our rules page. If you are ejected for something considered to be violent or offensive in nature...that is, something involving foul language, threats, violence against another player, spectators, referees, etc., or anything that intended deliberate bodily harm to an opponent...then that ejection could be deemed deserving of more than the standard "automatic" suspension.
* For example, by state guidelines, fighting with another player during a match is a Class 3 offense, and constitutes a mandatory MINIMUM three game suspension. That ejection would automatically come before the committee. The job of the committee is to identify that action as "fighting", based on the report from the referee in that match, and enforce the appropriate penalty. Depending on the specific actions involved in each case, punishment over and above the minimum is always possible.
* However, if you were ejected for something "non-violent"...for example, handling the ball to prevent a ball entering the goal...then the one-game suspension is likely all you would serve, provided there was no further incident following the send-off.
* For any class four or class five offense, suspensions may apply to all league play at the direction of the GMSA disciplinary committee. (For example, if you are found to have committed a referee assault, and currently participate for both a men's team and a coed team, you will not be able to play for either team until your suspension have been served.)
Now, having said all of that, you can click on the divisional statistic pages
above for the current ledger of people who have accumulated yellow cards and red
cards. Remember, four yellow cards means a one-game suspension. If
you're getting close to that number, be careful!
