Indoor Rules:
We will be playing by the
US
Indoor rules template, with some modifications and exceptions. I will try to have a full list of the rules
published as soon as possible, but here's a preview of some of the alterations
we'll be making for GMSA play:
- No slide tackles, with the exception
of the goalkeeper within his own penalty area. Penalized by free kick
at spot of the infraction. If the same players tackles more than
twice, it will result in a two-minute penalty.
- Teams will play 7v7 (six field players plus
the goalkeeper); there must be a minimum of 5 players on the field at all
times. For coed matches, this means five men and two women, and at
least one women must be on the field at all times. (If only one woman
is present, teams must play short one total player.)
- Goalkeepers may use their hands for
pass-backs made inside the defensive red line, as long as the initial
possession by their teammates also came inside the defensive red line.
(Players may be penalized by two-minute penalty or caution if multiple
consecutive pass-backs are deemed to be used for time wasting purposes.)
- Substitutions may be made on the fly or at
any stoppage.
- Balls out of play over the side boards will
result in kick-in at the nearest point to where the ball left the field of
play.
- Balls out of play over the end boards will
result in a goal kick or corner kick
as applicable.
- Balls out of play (hitting the netting over
the field) will be put back in play with a free kick at the nearest red line
or center line.
- All free kicks, goal kicks, corner kicks,
kick-ins, etc. must be put back into play by the referee's five-second
count, or the ball turns over to the other team.
- All goals will count only as one point.
(MISL uses two-point and three-point goals outside an arc, similar to
basketball...no such lines exist at our facility, so we won't be using
that.)
- Blue card is a two-minute penalty.
Yellow card is also a two-minute penalty. Penalty ends before two
minutes elapse only if the other team scores during the penalty time.
- Red card is a five-minute penalty.
Player is ejected and must leave the field. The five-minute penalty is
served for the duration of the time, and is NOT shortened by goals scored.
The ejected player may be replaced after five minutes (returning the team to
full strength).
